Choosing the Right Promotional Product

Everybody likes something for nothing and many people will stand in line to get freebies regardless of how insignificant they might seem. Freebies can and often are soon forgotten, though, unless they prove useful in some way. Because of this it is important to choose the right promotional product to keep the name of your business out in the open instead of long forgotten in the back of a cabinet or closet.

According to the Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), wearables such as caps and t-shirts, writing implements, and calendars are the most popular promotional products companies pass out to their customers. Besides these, there are literally thousands of other promotional items from which to choose when deciding which ones will best represent your business. Although choosing one of the top three promotional products is often a good idea, it's also a good idea to think beyond the run of the mill promotional marketing products and choose products specific to your customers. For example, if you sell tennis rackets, offer your customers imprinted wrist and head bands or water bottles. If you sell automotive products, consider customized auto trash bags, ice scrapers and dash calendars.

By customizing your imprinted promotional gifts to fit the needs of your customers, you can ensure that these items won't be tossed aside minutes after customers receive them. Another consideration is the quality of your specialty advertising items. For example, millions of pens are routinely distributed to customers and potential customers every day with various advertising logos imprinted upon them. Make your pen stand out by ensuring it is filled with quality ink and has a comfortable grip. People who have a favorite pen will use it until the ink runs dry and take care to guard against someone running off with it.

Many companies have a graduated list of promotional products they routinely distribute based on the value of their customers. Studies show that employees involved in incentive programs are more productive and are absent less frequently than employees who are not part of incentive programs so involving your work force in this way just makes good sense. Considering the interests and hobbies of your customers and employees while keeping practicality in mind will help you choose promotional products that work as hard as you do.
